A proposed schedule

I've been looking at the tentative master calendar and thinking about the season that I would like to sail. For whatever it's worth, I would like to discontinue the prior years' effort to have two seasons in one and settle on a single modest season with a number of additonal regattas which would not be "counters" but which would have fleet support. So, here goes:

NON-COUNTERS (but deserving of support)
Three Bridge Fiasco
Big Daddy and Great Pumpkin Regattas
Vallejo Season Opener and Second Half Opener (total of 4 race days) Whichever ocean race OYRA gives us

COUNTERS
HDA Numbers 3,4,5,6,10,11 and 12. In other words, the entire HDA season except for the two weekend openers and the City Front regatta on August 10. I would suggest 2 throwouts, available for any two races rather than one per half.

This schedule is tailored to those who don't really want to race the HDA season but would like to participate in the Vallejo and Second Half Openers. Because they would not be counters everyone would be invited to race them. There are no two day race weekends as counters, which meets the needs of some of our members. While it is not a "race a month" it is fairly modest in terms of actual race dates, with one in May, two in June, one in August and two in September.

I would also suggest a fleet weekend cruise to Angel Island in July to include those members of the fleet who are not interested in racing but might enjoy hanging on a hook for a weekend, barbecuing and socializing.

Any thoughts? Received on Sun Nov 4 21:12:25 2001
