Happy to report the entire TAKEOFF crew is well. Nobody got hurt, just disappointed. TAKEOFF lost her rig around 6 AM around Pissmo Beach area. The crew was having a blast, happily surfing down waves, and doing fantastic when the rig broke apart. It was a great race up until that point. The boat is now at Avilla Beach. After the Coastal Cup, my plan was to sail TAKEOFF down to Long Beach and race in the Long Beach YC regatta, and then the North Sails/Gollison regatta, returning on June 25. I would still like to attempt to race in those wonderful regattas. So right now I am busy trying to borrow another Laser's rig, and yet another Laser's main (oh yes, sob, sob), we also lost our brand new main, and spinnaker when I rig went bye, bye. I will keep ya all posted; wish us luck, please.
The happy ending to this story is that no one was hurt and the crew had one hell of an exciting E ticket ride for over 20 hours. - WOW Cioa, Joan, TAKEOFF Received on Tue Jun 12 11:32:20 2001
