Seattle Laser Sailors,

I got one of the new outhaul clew tie down gizmos for our fleet to demo and provide feedback to Vanguard. This is the stainless sleeve with a clew hook that replaces the spectron line or the velcro strap. It is not currently class legal and I trust that no will have a problem with various fleet members using this for a demo. For those not aware, there is a proposal to make this legal that is open for voting till the end of July.

After sailing I'd like to hand the gizmo off to someone else so it gets some various exposure. The only catch is that you have to fill out a feedback form and email it to Vanguard. Here are the questions they've asked for feedback on:

  1. What were the prevailing conditions during testing?
  2. How was the installation?
  3. How did the clew strap react in use?
  4. Did it slide easily?
  5. Did it ever come unhooked inadvertantly?
  6. How did it impact your Laser Sailing experience?
  7. Other comments?
  8. After testing do you intend to vote for the clew tie down proposal?

First person to email me gets to try it next.

Mike Johnson
