Seattle Laser Sailors,
The Notice of Race for the 2006 Frigid Digit is posted on the SLF web site (cycseattle.org/slf). For people who are familiar with Sand Point, we will be sharing the Tarmac with a Motorcycle Safety Course so access and parking will be a little different. We will use the NOAA entrance and the gate just east of the hanger for entering and exiting the Tarmac. See the NOR for more details if you are not familiar with Sand Point.
I just spoke to Robert from The Port of Seattle and they intend to make a formal press release next week that covers all active work on the north end of Shilshole Bay Marina. The contractors are working dilligently on the piers, pilings, and ramps that support our three floats. They are working against a tight deadline that requires all barges and equipment to be out of the area after a certain date. As I understand it, too much shade in the early Spring will disrupt the spawing of a certain type of fish. Rumor has it that the design of the ramps were not able to accommodate the extreme low tides (-3.3ft) we had in late December and the Contractor is looking at potential solutions. Stay tuned.
I-14 Floats
For the west and middle floats moorage contracts will be mailed out when
firmer details about the access to the floats are known. The persons who had paid
up contracts in 2005 will have the first rights to their slips and / or rack
space. If slips available after this first round, the persons on the racks
will have the choice to move into these slips. After this, persons on a waiting
list will have access to the remaining slips / rack spaces. If you want to
be put on the waiting list for the outside two floats, please email
dennis@williamsphoto.com.
