As we enter the cold months ahead and you are partying with sailors who are interested in getting into Laser Sailing I'd encourage you to direct them to the SLF Website Classified Ads. (www.cycseattle.org/slf ) I've posted a Used Laser Buying Guide as a link from the Classified page that provides a person with a significant amount of knowledge to use when purchasing a used Laser. There are currently some ads with boats for sale and some ads from people who are looking for a specific set of criteria in a used boat.
Based on where the potential laser sailor is located (CAN, WA, OR) I'd encourage them to visit or contact the Laser Dealer located in their area. The SLF website has a page dedicated to providing the contact information for each dealer in our region.
