Hi to one and all Laser sailors.

I have received a membership attachment from James Appel (the Executive Director of ILCA NA) and noticed that quite a few Laser sailors have not re-joined for the 2004 season. For those of you whose membership has expired,
please send me an email to tell me why. For those of you who have not received the Laser Sailor and who do not belong to the national email list,
memberships are now collected at the beginning of the year and is good until the end of the year. This is a change from previous years when you could join any time during the year and the membership was good for 12 months. A lot of people are having second thoughts about renewing at the beginning of the year and if this is the reason you have not re-newed your membership, please send an email to James Appel at: james.appel@verizon.net.
If enough members complain, they will probably go back to the old method. It is also my understanding that you will get a new membership when you purchase a new boat. You can join the ILCA NA by paying by credit card on-line or by downloading a PDF membership form and paying by cheque. All payments are now in US dollars. Please go to: www.laser.org and click on "how to join". Just a reminder that if you want to compete in sanctioned ILCA events (ie District 6 Grand Prix and the US Masters), you MUST be a member.

Thanks,
