As the CYC Seattle Jr. Sailing Chairman, I just wanted to call to your attention that the ORCA Advanced Racing Clinic for Youth Sailors is a new event for the Pacific Northwest. This four day clinic will offer advanced youth sailors an opportunity to learn from the best national and regional coaches. Modeled after the highly successful CISA clinic, this event will be focused on making Northwest sailors nationally and internationally competitive.
When:
Memorial Day Weekend 2004: May 28 – May 31, 2004 Application Deadline: February 28, 2004
Where:
The clinic will be held at the Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle, Shilshole Clubhouse, 7755 Seaview Ave. NW, Seattle, WA 98117. For more information email info@orca_racing.org

The ORCA clinic is open to any sailor under the age of 19. Applicants for the Optimist class must be at least 10 years of age on or before May 28, 2004. All other applicants must be 14 years of age prior to May 28, 2004. Admission will be by application based on the applicant’s past sailing performance, demonstrated commitment to training and age. Those accepted to the clinic will be notified no later than March 30th.If necessary a waiting list will be formed. Waiting list applicants will be informed of openings as soon as they become available.
Who is Coaching:
The ORCA elite racing clinic will feature intensive coaching from a variety of national and US Olympic Team coaches, world champions, and top Northwest sailors. The rigorous on and off-water program will include video analysis, boat tuning and setup, boat handling, drills, tactics, regatta preparation, and personal technique evaluation.
