Something to consider for all you CYC weeknight racers,
Would it be fun (emphasis on fun) to institute "3 minute justice" protest hearings on Thursday nights. For those unfamiliar - this is a form of protest hearing where each side has three minutes to make their case after which a "judge" immediately makes a decision. Usually everything is done verbally - no protest forms to fill out other than letting someone know there is a protest to hear.
To make this more fun I would suggest that it be done in public and primarily as an exercise to clarify the rules. Bring your beer and nachos and hash out the rules. The out come would affect scores, so there would be some incentive not to be trivial.
The benefit could be two-fold. First, it would encourage better understanding of the rules and protest processes by giving us a venue for practicing that side of our sport. Second, I think it would help keep all of us honest during our weeknight racing.
If people are interested I would be willing to propose this to the RC. We could always rescind this if we don't like it - again if it's not fun let's not do it.
