I am a big proponent of a purchase type system, but then again your GP probably has the cool remote system which I would KILL to have. I have started collecting all the parts for the purchase system including the 1/4" yale vectrus backstay itself. Just have to figure out where to dead end everything and where to run all the purchase under the deck. I am leaning towards abandoning the original tang at the top of the transom for a pair down low and aft on the transom (appropriately reinforced), effectively moving the stay aft at the sheerline by about a foot (less leach hang-ups).
The down side of a purchase system is that it has to have about a million to one purchase to duplicate the ram's pull: which means a shitload of line laying around somewhere. A fine/gross tune setup would help but that would mean yet another cleat and tail somewhere. The nice part is that you can really let the backstay way out for running with the frac on.
My 2 cents
