Sailtec makes a reasonable model that's about 250 bucks less
than the Navtec model.
Personally, I got a Wichard mechanical adjuster, which will only pull about 1500 pounds on the backstay, but it's also about $600 less expensive than the navtec hydraulics. It's also slower than the hydraulic, but then I singlehand, and quickly adjusting the hydraulics is not going to make or break a race for me.. Besides there's pretty much nothing to break on this piece of equuipment. The thing is built like the proverbial brick sh**house, it's a beautiful casting.
Life is full of compromises. I'm getting the new #2 cut with the headstay sag factored in.
