I've been experiementing with my Garmin 48 and I see where there is an interface menu item and within that there are several operating mode, including
NMEA/NMEA. Mine was not set there so I'm guessing this is something to try to
get it to communicate with the rest of the world. Will try on Saturday and let you
know how it works.
