I bought my 1983 Santana 3030 PC about 15 months ago for $10,000.

It was terribly neglected, here's a run-dwon of what was "up" with the boat.

• the engine was there, it had even been completely overhauled, but hadn't been installed
• the fuel tank had leaked diesel into the bilge and had to be replaced
• the boat had no boom
• the boat had no mainsail
• all the other sails were original Ullmans from the boat in 1983
• the boat had no tiller
• no spinnaker pole
• none of the winches spun, none of the jammer levers budged.
• three of the halyards had funky, spliced together rope tails that wouldn't pass though either the jammers of the openings in the mast, and they had to be replaced
• the boat was utterly, entirely, completely filthy
• no cushions
• the Navtec adjustable backstay was missing
• the boat hadn't been hauled in 2 years
• absolutely none of the electronic instruments worked (they still don't), though the panel is OK

After fixing most of that stuff up except for the elcetronics.....bought new boom, new North Pentex #3 and Mainsail, new plastic fuel tank (I installed myself) and paying to have the engine installed, I'm into the boat for about $23,000.

When I replace the wire running backs with synthetic ones, get a new #1 (this winter, from Quantum), install the Wichard backstay adjuster sitting in my room, install the eletric bilge pump that's been on my desk all sumemr, and replace the instruments, I'll be into the boat for something around $27,000. In other words..

...if I was just counting dollars, it wasn't worth it.

But fixing it all up the way I like it has been fun. *g*

In other words, roughly what folks are asking aroundhere for a nice sail-ready 3030.
