I just sent in my Signet SL80 (depth sounder and knot meter dial) in for repair and was told that they no longer carry parts for it. They made me an offer to replace it with their current model, the SL250 and would offer a discount as I purchase that. The advantage is that I can use my old through-hulls. My boat did not have wind instruments when I bought tit and I would like to add some. If I would do this with Signet, to replace the module, dial and to add integrated wind instruments for VMG, apparent and true wind speed and direction and an extra dial, would cost me about $1800.00 (with the discount). To add their performance module, which would provide the opportunity to estimate tack angle, etc. add another $1600.00 (out of my range)

I have been looking at other brands. I have a friend, a cruiser who swears by a new Nexus system he bought. They seem to have a pretty nice performance package for about $1300.00 but their wind instruments don't seem very legible for racing. Have any of you replaced your instruments or thought about doing this. Which instruments do you recommend? I would like to stay under or around $2000.00 for this.
