So this dumb Texan went out and bought a Harken 413 4:1/7:1 Black Magic
Mainsheet System.
He should have known that he was not smart enough to comprehend such
spectacular
rocket science. Surely when you come from Texas (that other nation
within a nation)
the difference in accent should be enough to make you avoid those fellas
from up North
that eat all that cheese.
Anyway, after installing, reinstalling, restringing, pulling, releasing, sheeting ( maybe its one i instead of two e's) in, sheeting out, he managed to get the darn thing to work.
Now here is the rub. Yee Bob, it goes into "fine tune" gear everytime, but.......
First you have to sheet in much further that you think is appropriate
for wind conditions.
Not an easy task with a 4:1 in strong winds.
Then you have to release about 6 inches to get into fine tune. If you
sheet in fully, your
immediately back in gros trim mode. Doesn't seem quite kosher to me.
Does anyone think this will actually work?
