Things to look out for (From my short experience with the boat):
Bulkhead to Hull/Deck do they look flat? If not are they bracketed to the hull? Are there backing plates on the forward side of the bulkhead for the chainplates? Not a huge job, but could be ugly if let go...
Cracking in the deck along the genoa tracks? Again not a huge job but another good negotiating point...
Engine: BMW? forget it huge P.O.S. (there probably a couple out there that are OK, but from everyone I've talked to they are jinxed)..., Yanmar, best made, just needs to be serviced (including the engine black pencil zinc), Volvo; check the smoke & running temp, exhaust manifold coolant passages tend to clog causing hot running.
Rig: Spreader tips & roots, cracks around the silly pole hoist exit sheaves, navtec twistloc shround terminations NLA, have a knowledgable rigger check (most surveyors won't)
DOES IT HAVE THE BIG RUDDER? If not, you'll have fun trying to keep the thing under the rig...
Deck gear, Barients? No longer made; Clutches, if they are original they will need to be replaced, in general if stuff looks original its been there for almost twenty years...
Just a few thoughts, hope this helps..
