We have finally talked to two guys this last weekend that seem good for the
fiberglass. I also went to the schock factory to see how they mix the
texture and I got a lead on their top gelcoat guy who may be interested in
working weekends. He is supposed to come down this Saturday.
So this is the plan. I would like to begin work on the fiberglass as soon as someone is available with or without the settlement from the insurance company. The V berth up front and the two quarter berth have the foam and fabric removed and will be gelcoated with the same texture as the ceiling. The entire ceiling of the boat will be re-gelcoated. The new windows and doors are ordered and will be ready before we need them. Once the deck on the port side is done we can begin to race again. The engine works and starts. Most of DC on the boat still works but all of the lights and instruments inside need to be replaced but running light should work. We need to rebuild the chart table and we will do some modifications of this item. Adding round corners to provide easier access to the bunk and chart table and making the chart table more functional. The chart table needs to be completely removed to get to the damaged fiberglass so why not improve it slightly.
The enclosed head: the three walls in the head that are now dark teak will be painted white to add more light and airiness. All the windows are now a lighter grey color to let more light in.
The order of business is fiberglass repair first. Then gelcoat inside. Buff complete hull and re-gelcoat the small burn on the outside of the boat. Strip all the wood in the boat, bleach and revarnish install new wood veneer where needed. Reinstall chart table and electrical panel. Then reinstall instruments and interior lighting. Re-install upholstery. Cruise to Catalina.
If you or someone you know that is reliable have time during the week for sanding and stripping and need some extra money we are hiring. Received on Wed Mar 21 10:25:06 2001
