In Carrera's first race at PSSR this past Saturday, we shredded our (likely
20 year-old) "Headfoil 2" headsail track. We decided that it was likely to
shred, in turn, any spinnaker we tried to hoist, so we went home. It was
depressing, sailing conditions were *perfect*.
Inquiries around town only revealed that most people working in marine stores have no idea what Tuff Luff is, and that the sales staff at Crows Nest is pitifully uninformed and service abysmal; but that there wasnt any of this stuff readily available in stock anywhere. Thanks to the North Loft, Marine Service Center and Admiralty Marine for helpful suggetions!
My question to you, the Olson community, is: Where can I get a Headfoil 2 replacement (I dont want Tuff Luff) and how much *should* it cost me, compared to how much I likely will pay? Can I order direct or do I have to go through a rigger/shop? I saw a 46 ft. length of Tuff Luff at North with the pack slip still attached, and the price made me gag. I am hoping I can get this stuff somewhat cheaper than 8$ a foot!
Any info appreciated,
Alex, Carrera O#32
