Phil, as such there are currently no limits to the number of sails you can
buy in the olson fleet. There is an ammendment to that being voted on this
year at nationals. Currently the owner of splash buys sails in sets, the
previous purchase was in 1996 which were well used and won the 1998 nationals
in their third full year of use. Yes there was a set of North sails purchased
and resold in 99 but they were not what we were looking for and were sold
aftter two races and replaced with the Quantum sails. So my basic point is
what should it matter if you buy two sails a year or 5 sails every 3 years?
Sail limitations might force you to use them or loose them (in the case of
the Ecthells fleet). In the case of most fleets with sail limitations
sailmakers love them. I know.
