I've been reading the messages about reducing the cost of campaigning our boats,
and I still think a "Spending Cap" to be among the best solutions , although somewhat hard to enforce .....
I would therefore second any notions about limiting sails to Dacron , as in some fleets .......
And ( or ) limiting headsails to one overlapping jib of a specific size and one non - overlapping jib ,
and 2 spinnakers .......
I'm also in favor of reducing crew weight .........1,000 lbs or 6 crew or less , whichever comes first........
We want to leave the door open for lightweights , women and kids , etc..........you get a bunch of
heavies ( 190 to 200 lbs ) and you make the weight with 5 or less .....All of these things need to be worked out, but I do believe we need to do something ........I've talked to some non - racers and always got the same feedback : crew and cost ......
