I am looking at getting a J35 to race on Monterey Bay, with hopes of doing
some SFO one design. I would really appreciate hearing about the boat from
racers. Especially those that have downsized. My big question is where is
the boat lacking. Heavy Air? Downwind? In PHRF racing where are you lacking
in a J35?
The boat looks to me to be a sensible compromise with a one design fleet
just up the road. In Monterey the Santana 22 and J22 are the boats of
choice. There is a ragtag A fleet but the boats are night and day.
My thoughts are the J-35 would be fun on Wednesday nights, serious
competitor for PHRF, and I could still come race with the SFO fleet in one
design. Looks sensible to me. Any feedback?
