I crew with a friend on his J35 and we have not been able to get her to go fast. I believe she has a narrow "notch". Meaning that she's less forgiving than some other boats and things need to be done right or she does not get up and go. We are probably doing most things wrong that should be considered the basics, but is there anything unique about a J-35.

As in all boats, there are those secrets to sailing fast learned over the years. Sail trim, rig tuning, heal angle, bottom finish, steering, etc. Are there any secrets, things that are different for a J35?

What do you need to do to point well in light air, in heavy air? How do you go fast downwind? Etc.
