Larry Schell, Chairman of the J35 National Technical Committee, provided me
with the following information: Upon further review by the J35 National
Technical Committee, it has been ruled that hatches on the J35, fitted with
a container, may be used to launch or recover spinnakers. The containers in
combination with the sail cannot use a retrieval "system" such as a
retrieval line, and the containers must not require major modification to
the deck or boat, such as a new or enlarged opening in the deck or boat.
Installation of "quick release fasteners", to hold the container are not
considered "major modification".
